Velma Marie (Belter) Kelm, 90, Markesan, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005, at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.
She was born February 8, 1915, in Borth, Waushara Co., WI, daughter of Henry & Minnie (Schlagel) Belter. Velma graduated from Berlin High School in 1933, and Green Lake Co. Rural Normal in 1934 with a teaching degree. She taught school for 10 years. On October 13, 1937, she married Clifford E. Kelm at the Evangelical United Brethren Church Parsonage in Berlin. For many years, she and her husband owned Kelm Hardware & Refrigeration. She was a Charter Member of Faith Lutheran Church, Markesan.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Betty (David) Fox of Ripon; 4 grandchildren, Brian (Sharree) Kelm of Kennette, MO, Carla (Tim) Kramoris of Slinger, Teresa (Travis Oenning) Fox of Rochester, MN, and Tanya (Todd) Abraham of Ripon; 6 great-grandchildren, Brenna & Mitchell Kramoris of Slinger, Alicia, Zachary & Jacob Abraham of Ripon, and Paige Oenning of Rochester; 3 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Marvin Belter of Milwaukee, Mrs. Alvin Belter and Mrs. Charles Belter, both of CA; 1 brother-in-law, Warren Buechel of CA. She was preceded in death by 1 son, David Kelm in 1978; husband, Clifford Kelm in 1989; daughter-in-law, Carol Kelm in 2002; 4 brothers, Alvin, Milton, Marvin and Charles Belter; and 1 sister, Iva Buechel.
Funeral service for Velma Marie Kelm will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2005, at Faith Lutheran Church, Markesan with Rev. Mike Schierenbeck officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Manchester Cemetery in Manchester. A memorial has been established.
