Verna Erdmann

Verna Erdmann, age 93, of Russell Manor, Ripon, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Fountain View Care Center, Ripon.
Verna was born on October 28, 1913, in the Town of Halsey, WI, the daughter of Edward and Maria (Bechler) Wilke. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ United Church in Athens. She attended thru the 9th grade at Fairview School, Town of Halsey. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir, and was a member of the Young Peoples League. Verna belonged to the Homemakers Club. She worked in Milwaukee for 5 years, and on June 2, 1945 she married William Erdmann of Ripon at Christ United Church of Athens. William was the son of the late Emil and Clara Erdmann of Ripon. Verna and her husband made their home in Brandon, and he passed away on April 28, 1947 due to a motor scooter and car accident. For 35 years Verna operated a bar tacking machine at Admanco in Ripon. She retired in 1983, and was a member of the 25-year Club. She enjoyed her home, yard work and garden. She was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon and the Women’s Guild, and had been a greeter for many years. In July 1995, she sold her home in Brandon and moved to Russell Manor where she enjoyed living very much.
Survivors include her son, Duane (Cheryl) Erdmann of Eastlake, OH; 2 granddaughters, Tammy Erdmann, and Wendy (Bill) Sabin; 3 sisters-in-law, Ruth Hiedelbach of Mequon, LaVern Freimund of Marshfield and Carol Petznick of Athens; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Duane Jr. on March 11, 1973; sisters, Esther, Alice and Eunice; brothers, Leslie, Milton and Clarence; 3 sisters-in-law; 6 brothers-in-law and 4 nephews.
Visitation for Verna Erdmann will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2007 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Funeral Service for Verna Erdmann will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ with Reverend Mark R. West officiating. Interment will be held in Brandon Cemetery, Brandon. Memorials may be given to: Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St. Ripon, WI, 54971.
