Verna G. Hoffman, age 74, of Ripon, WI, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away March 11, 1997, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.
She was the first born daughter to Frank and Ida Schwersenska Schultz of Ripon, born March 4, 1923. She graduated from Ripon High School. Verna married Arnold Hoffman October 18, 1941, in Ripon at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ. She worked as a housekeeper at Parkview Care Center until her retirement. Verna had lived in Ripon all of her life, and was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ. Verna kept herself busy by doing quilting and embroidering at home, and she belonged to the Quilting Class of Our Saviour’s Church, and was a past member of the 6-Mile Corner Homemakers. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed special time with her grandchildren. She was always ready for a new adventure. On their 55th wedding anniversary she and Arnold had their first airplane ride at Myers Airport in Ripon.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold; three sons, David (Patty) of FL, Roger (Charlette) of Roscoe, IL and DuWayne (Bonnie) of Ripon; one daughter, Nancy Roehl of Ripon; eight grandchildren, Robin (Jac) Gruenwald and son Jeremy of Ripon, Joel Hoffman of Ripon, Lisa (Joe) Erickson and daughter Miranda of Ripon, Derek and Brittney Roehl of Princeton, Angie Hoffman and special friend Mark of Rockford, IL and Olivia and Timothy Hoffman of Ripon. She is further survived by three sisters, Esther Stellmacher, Dorothy Baird and Eldora (Clifford) Sieger, all of Ripon. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law and one grandchild.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 15, 1997, at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon with Reverend Eric Burnard officiating. Burial will be in Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 7 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. A memorial has been established.
