Verna Sommers

Verna (Jonas) Sommers, age 82, of Ripon, WI, passed away on January 9, 1997, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born August 17, 1914, in Ripon, a daughter to the late August and Julia (Werdin) Jonas. She was a graduate of Ripon High School. Verna worked at Ripon College several years and was a stitcher at Admanco until her retirement in 1981. Verna was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching any and all sporting events.
She was a loving mother of Lynn (Cindy) Sommers of Ripon and Dennis (Betty) Sommers of Tifton, GA. She is further survived by grandsons, Matthew and Benjamin Sommers of Ripon and Todd (Ansley) Sommers of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters, Robbin (Mitch) Tyson and Jody (Russell) Moore, both of Tifton, GA and Shelley Sommers and fiancé Eric Smith of Gainsville, FL; three great-grandchildren; a niece, Ethel Chipman and special friend, Janice Novitske, both of Ripon; and other relatives and friends of Ripon.
There will be no visitation or services as were her wishes. Inurnment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park in Oshkosh.
