Vernard William Malzhan, age 91, of Ripon passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his home peacefully.
Vernard was born October 8, 1920 in Green Lake, the son of Frederick and Laura (Klimke) Malzhan Sr. He married Ruth Lorraine Dahlke at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale on October 12, 1946. Vernard worked on the family farm until he was drafted to serve our country in WWII from 1942 until 1945, serving under General Patton in Germany. Vernard worked also as a milk hauler, stock truck driver, as well as at Green Giant, Ripon Co-op and Naas Foods. He was self-employed as a combine operator until the age of 76 and he found his niche as a small engine repairman up until shortly before his death.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ruth; daughter, Margie Walker (Roger Washkovick) of Ripon, son, Lester Malzhan of Berlin, daughter, Karen (John) Rohr of Waunakee, son, Karlon Malzhan of Ripon, son, Eugene Malzhan of Green Lake, son, Roger (Shari) Malzhan of Berlin, son, Dale Malzhan of Berlin, daughter, Jayne (Jim) Prellwitz of Ripon, son, Wayne Malzhan of Ripon, daughter Janet (Dennis) Darnick of Ripon; 13 grandchildren, Sheryl (Kenneth) Hable, Terry (Marjean) Gable, Kerry Gable, Suzanne (Randy) McCoy, Melissa (Jason) Jacobson, Christopher (Kieu Truong) Thomas, Danielle Malzhan, Michael (Amy Griedl) Malzhan, Brian Malzhan, Tammy (Wayne Williams) Steeps, Rebecca Darnick, Rachel (Jeremy) Liggett, and Angela Darnick; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; 2 sisters, Irene Albright and Illa Neal; 4 brothers, Rhinold (Shirley) Malzhan, Arnold (Betty) Malzhan, Frederick (Sharon Wegner) Malzhan Jr., and Robert Malzhan; sister-in-law, Delores Malzhan. Vernard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary; brothers Herbert Malzhan, Alvin (Blanche) Malzhan, and Marvin Malzhan; sisters, Lucille (Herman) Beier, Lorraine (Charles) Schuck, and Doris Zaugg; son-in-law, Jim Walker; sister-in-law, Betty Malzhan; brother-in-law, Carl Albright.
Visitation for Vernard William Malzhan will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 4-6 PM at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971, and again Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 10-11 AM at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Vernard William Malzhan will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 11 AM at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with the Pastor Mark R. West officiating. Interment will be at the Rosendale Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorials can be made to Agnesian Hospice Hope, 745 South St. Green Lake, WI 54941.
