Vernon Dorsey

Vernon Eugene Dorsey, 82, of 820 Metomen St., Ripon, passed away Wednesday morning, September 7, 2005, at Ripon Medical Center, Ripon.

He was born July 10, 1923, in Algona, Iowa, a son to Harley Fredrick and Eva Rose (Mansmith) Dorsey. He was baptized March 18, 1943 at the Methodist Church in Berlin, and was confirmed by rite of confirmation September 9, 1945 at Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin. He was a high school graduate. On October 15, 1944, he married Orline Alma Wiese at Grace English Lutheran Church, Berlin. Vernon had been a farmer, and later had 2 full-time jobs as press operator in the tin shop at Speed Queen and custodian at Ripon Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon.

Survivors include his 5 children, Cherie (John) Anderson of Princeton, Terri (William) Drake of St. Petersburg, FL, Patti Worm of Ripon, James Dorsey of Appleton and Toni (Steve) Hollenback of Ripon; and 13 grandchildren, Pamela Weckwerth of Ripon, Autumn Senner of Kaukauna, Jenni (Kent) Huseboe of Ripon, John Anderson, Jr., of Princeton, Melissa Anderson of Alexandria, VA, Tammy (Derek) Finley of San Diego, CA, Nicole (Gary) Splittgaber of St. Petersburg, FL, Amanda Munsey of St. Petersburg, FL, Christian (Melissa) Kohnke of Fond du Lac, Kimberlee (David) Mack of Ripon, Angela (Scott) Pecore of Greenville, WI, David Hollenback of San Diego, CA and Thomas Hollenback of Lamartine. He is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Derek & Dylan Splittgaber, both of St. Petersburg, FL, Caley & Collin Finley, both of San Diego, CA, Taylor Baccus of Ripon, Jacob Kohnke of Fond du Lac, Carson Mack of Ripon, Madison & Maxwell Huseboe of Ripon, Ava Pecore of Greenville, WI and Connor Weckwerth of Ripon. Further survivors include 2 sisters, Betty Standke of Beaver Dam and Shirley Bender of Ripon; 1 brother, Harley (Kathy) Dorsey of Pickett; 2 sisters-in-law, Regina Wiese of Rosendale and LaRayne Wiese of Tucson, AZ; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Orline Dorsey; 1 son, Ronald Dorsey; and son-in-law, Richard Worm.

Funeral service for Vernon Dorsey will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon with Pastor Alan F. Schaffmeyer officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the church service. Interment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake. Memorials may be given in his name to the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee or Grace Lutheran Church.
