Victor Hess, 63, of W13178 State Hwy 23, Ripon, passed away on Wednesday, evening April 21, 2004 at Berlin Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.
Victor was born on March 3, 1941, the son of Everett and Florence (Claggett) Hess in Elyria, Oh. Victor moved to Ripon in 1958, and he graduated from Ripon High School in the Class of 1959. Victor was part owner of Prairie Tubular Rivet & a Trucking Business, he was partly retired and still drove for the trucking company. He lived in Markesan and the Green Lake area as well as Ripon. Victor served his country in the United States Army, as a member of the 101st Air Cavalry from 1963-1965. On October 11, 1986 he married Patricia Polly. He was a past member of Ripon-Green Lake-Markesan Masonic Lodge F&AM #95.
Survivors include, his wife Patricia of Ripon, WI, two sons; Larry Hess of Richmond, VA, and Andrew (Kathy) Hess of Oshkosh, WI, one sister; Audrey George of Ripon, WI, his first wife Nina Zick of Markesan, WI, step children; Julie Smith of Brown Deer, WI, Christine Smith of Lakeland, FL, and Matthew Smith of Green Lake, WI, three grandchildren; Madeleine, Zach and Ian, 2 step grandchildren; Kathleen and Cody Smith, father-in-law, Helmuth Kerl of Ripon, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Ronald Hess, and one brother; Clayton Hess.
Funeral services for Victor Hess will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Butzin-Marchant, Ripon with the Rev. Rom A. Pegram officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Green Lake Center Cemetery in the Town of Green Lake. A memorial has been established in his name.
