Vincent Fashun

Vincent P. Fashun, age 97, formerly of Ripon, went to his eternal resting place on January 1, 2009 at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon, WI.
Vincent was born on June 26, 1911, in Ljublana, Slovenia, Austria, the son of Vincent and Franciska (Rotar) Fashun. He came to America in October of 1920 and resided in Milwaukee. In 1927, he came to Lomira and worked with various members of the Pade family, who treated him like one of their own. In 1940, he was hired by Standard Oil to operate their bulk plant at Slinger, WI. In March 1941, he was drafted into the United States Army. Vincent was released December 4, 1941, three days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. On January 10, 1942, he married Orion Peters, and 20 days later, he was called back by the army. He survived the Battle of the Bulge and his division captured the Ramagen Bridge near the end of the war. In January of 1946, Vince and Orion moved to Ripon, WI, where he was employed as a bulk plant agent. He serviced many loyal customers there for over 22 years and retired on October 1, 1968. He and Orion loved square dancing, fishing, cribbage and dominoes at their lake home where they have lived the past three years.
Survivors include his wife Orion; three sons, Peter (Christine) Dart-Fashun of Fond du Lac, WI, Mark Fashun of Eldorado, WI, and Tim Fashun of Eldorado, WI; four loving step-grandchildren, Sarah Connole of Kansas City, MO, Rebecca Hickey, Rome, NY, Brian Dart of Fond du Lac, WI, and Anthony Dart of Boca Raton, FL; two grandchildren Christopher (Jessica) of IA, and Naomi (Jose) Mandojana of WA; two great grand children Xavier Dart and Eliyas Hickey, nieces and nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Franciska, one brother Edward and one sister Mary Lustik.
Visitation for Vincent Fashun will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
A memorial service for Vincent Fashun will be held on January 3, 2009, at 1:00 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church with Reverend Bryan Fristch officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Byron Cemetery in Byron, WI. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Messiah Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army, 237 N. Macy St., Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
