Viola C. Downs, age 74, formerly of Russell Manor in Ripon, died Saturday, December 7, 1996, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.
She was born May 5, 1922, in Oshkosh, a daughter to Harry and Geneva (Moon) Cundy. On June 12, 1943, she married Wesley Downs, Sr. Viola grew up and lived in Pickett, moving to Ripon in 1968. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of American and the Ripon V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Barb (Carl) Parker of Ripon; three sons, Gene (Karen) Downs of Ripon, Ben (April) Downs of Omro and Wesley (Pam) Downs, Jr. of Ripon; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry (Belva) Cundy of Kewaskum; and two sisters, Vivian Whitemarsh of Oshkosh and Virginia (Marvin) Akstulwicz of Neenah. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wesley Downs, Sr.; and three brothers.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 10, 1996, at 10 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with Pastor Carl L. Stubenvoll officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Prairie Cemetery in the Town of Utica.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 until 8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions will be given to the American Diabetes Association in her name.
