Violet OHarrow Carrier, age 99, formerly of Russell Manor in Ripon, WI, died Tuesday morning, August 1, 2000, at the home of her daughter.
She was born May 26, 1901, on a farm in North Eldorado, a daughter to James Bert and Roan (Close) OHarrow. She attended country school. On April 9, 1926, she married Spencer Carrier in Fond du Lac, and for 24 years, side by side they ran Carriers Grocery Store in Fond du Lac from 1928 through 1952. Mrs. Carrier was a former member of Division Street Methodist Church in Fond du Lac and currently a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Jean Carrier Robichaud (husband Raymond) of Ripon; grandchildren, Michael (Anne Wondra) of Waukesha, Mark (Kathy Brack) of Ripon, Bryon of Phoenix, AZ, Jon (Karen Ackerson) of New Port Richey, FL and Catherine (Mark Philipsky) of Fond du Lac; great-grandchildren, Brady & Trevor Robichaud, Megan, Tyler and Rachel Robichaud and Connor Philipsky. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956, infant son in 1938 and two sisters.
Funeral service for Violet Carrier will be 11:00 am Thursday, August 3, 2000, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon with Pastor David Busker officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in North Eldorado Cemetery in the Town of Eldorado. A memorial has been established.
