Walter Frank Dahlke, age 79, formerly of Ripon, was called to his final rest on July 21, 2002, while residing at Victorian Villa II in Brandon, WI.
Walter was born September 4, 1922 to Charles and Emma (Scheer) Dahlke in the Town of Metomen. He was the youn gest of eight children and lived in the Ripon/Green Lake area all of his life.
Walter served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II in the Military Police, stationed in Africa. On May 14, 1948 he married Virginia R. Dahlke. They had two children. He was employed at the Ripon Purina Feed Mill until his retirement. Walter was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Carrie (Ron) Tischer of Ripon; his son, Gary (Cathy) Dahlke of Oshkosh, and his granddaughter, Heidi (Lee) Martin of Oakfield. He is further survived by two sisters; Lillian Huth of Oshkosh and Alice Krystofiak of Zephyrhills, FL. Two brother-in-laws; William Dahlke and Fred (Shirley) Dahlke, both of Ripon, and two sister-in-laws; Cordelia Davis and Mildred Kranz, both of Ripon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; one grandson, Chad Widlake; three brothers; William Dahlke of Pickett, Louis Dahlke of Markesan, and Edward Dahlke of Brandon; and two sisters Ella Dahlke and Laura Dahlke, both of Ripon.
Walter was a very special man whos kindness, generosity, and subtle wit touched the lives of many. He battled medical obstacles that would have overwhelmed a lesser man and still maintained his sense of humor and compassion towards others. He will be sadly missed by many who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Rev. David A. Busker officiating. Friends may call on Monday, July 22, 2002 from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Green Lake Center Cemetery, Town of Green Lake. A memorial has been established.
