Walter F. Plagenz, Jr., age 62 of Markesan found his peace at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, with his family at his side, on November 26, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born December 18, 1939, at Ripon Memorial Hospital, the son of Walter and Evelyn (Mace) Plagenz. On May 21, 1960, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Schwandt.
Jr. worked as a farmer all of his life in the Markesan area, and enjoyed fishing. He truly enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Fairwater.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his son, Scot (Cathy) Plagenz of Markesan; daughter, Sheryl Plagenz at home; 3 grandchildren, Heather, Melissa & Lucas; 2 brothers, Dennis (Jayne) Plagenz of Ripon and James (Joyce) Plagenz of Markesan; 2 sisters, Kathy (Gilbert) Cordell of Ripon and Suzanne Plagenz & friend, Dale of Poy Sippi; and aunts, uncles, & many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Funeral service for Walter F. Plagenz, Jr., will be Saturday, November 30, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Fairwater with Rev. Charles Thompson officiating, assisted by William Zuhlke of the Free Church of Randolph. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Markesan Memorial Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
