Walter Vollbrecht

Walter A. Vollbrecht, age 82, of Littlefield, TX, died Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Littlefield Nursing Home and Rehab.

He was born on May 10, 1924 to Fred and Elsie (nee Jahnke) Vollbrecht in rural Ripon, WI. On March 16, 1946 he married Ruby Zech at Brandon, WI, in the Lutheran Church. Walter served two years in the US Army during WWII as an MP. He owned and operated a farm in rural Brandon and worked at Speed Queen Corp. in Ripon and then worked at Central State Hospital for Criminal Insane for 11 years in Waupun. He is a life member of Mattox-Henslin, American Legion Post 378 Brandon-Fairwater, and served as Chaplain and Commander of the Post and served as Fond du Lac County Commander. He was a member for 50 years. Walter taught Sunday school in Ripon, WI and Roswell, NM. He retired in 1979 from Waupun and moved to Roswell, NM then to Littlefield, TX. Walter was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Littlefield.

Survivors include his wife Ruby and one brother, Marvin (Shirley) Vollbrecht of Ripon, WI, one sister, Merilyn (Alfred) Radke of Brandon and five sisters-in-law Hazel (Vollbrecht), Schultz of Brandon, Edythe Schattschneider of Ripon, Grace Schattschneider of Ripon, Vera Wepner, and Joyce (Daivd) Zech, many nieces and nephews. Also surviving Walter are close friends, Michael & Shirley Wendt and their family of Waupun. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Carlyle, 2 nieces, a great nephew Bradley and 3 brothers-in-law.

Visitation for Walter A. Vollbrecht will be held on Monday, August 14, 2006 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon from 10 -11:00 am.

Funeral Service for Walter A. Vollbrecht will be held on Monday August, 14, 2006 at 11:00 am at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, with Reverend Gerald Schrankler officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosendale Cemetery, Village of Rosendale. A memorial as been established.
