Walter Witchie

June 21, 1924 — August 29, 2000

Walter William Witchie, age 76, of the Town of Brooklyn, Green Lake County, died Tuesday, evening, August 29, 2000, at his home.

He was born June 21, 1924, in Mexico, MO, a son the Edward and Edith (Lierheimer) Witchie. He graduated from school in Barrington, IL and later served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 – 1948. On June 22, 1974, he married Sharon Noren Kirby in Arlington Heights, IL. Walter had been a carpenter for 25 years in Chicago and was a member of Local 834. After retiring, he moved to Green Lake where he was a member of American Legion Post #0366 and V.F.W. Post #10452, both of Princeton.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Green Lake; six sons, Edward (Karen) Witchie, Walter (Kathleen) Witchie, David (Cathy) Witchie, Michael (Stacey) Witchie, Jeffery (Lilia) Witchie and Adam (Maria) Witchie; stepson, David Kirby; sister, Jessie (William) Hauck; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2000, at 2 pm at Calvary Lutheran Church, 202 S. Farmer St. Princeton with Pastor William R. Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
