Wayne J. Gibbons, age 81, of N5001 Fox River Lane, Princeton, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side Wednesday afternoon, January 26, 2005.
He was born September 26, 1923, in Crookston, MN, a son to Galanus & Bertha (Bishop) Gibbons. He graduated from Northwestern School of Agriculture, Crookston, MN, and the California Polytechnic School, San Luis Obispo, CA. Wayne served his country in the Army Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from February 1943 to October 1945. He married Marlene D. Nimmer on October 27, 1951 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon. Wayne was well known as an electrical contractor owning and operating Gibbons Electric in Ripon for 35 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Princeton; 2 daughters, Gail (Christopher) Widger of Woodinville, WA and Jane (Paul) Reilly-Smith of Schofield, WI; 2 sons, Daniel (Kathleen) Gibbons of Muskego, WI and Lt Commander Thomas (Kristine) Gibbons of Oak Harbor, WA; 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Megan, Melissa Reilly (Smith) & Nevin Smith; Kaitlan, Lane, Jennifer & Paige Gibbons; Zachary, Aaron, Elizabeth & Hannah Gibbons; niece, Eileen (Bob) Harbin of WA; nephews, Galen (Susan) Burke of TX, Richard Burke of CA and many more special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, young son Lane, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral service for Wayne J. Gibbons will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon with Rev. Sandra Krynik officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, January 30, 2005, from 2-5 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon and again on Monday from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Brandon Cemetery, Brandon with full military honors. Memorial gifts may be given to Hospice Hope/Central WI Branch or Grace Lutheran Church in his name.
