Wayne Douglas Krueger, age 80, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away at his home on May 21, 2008 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Wayne was born in the Portage Hospital, Portage, WI, on October 20, 1927, the son of Leonard A. and Alfaretta M. (Hall) Krueger. He lived in Dalton and moved to Green Lake in 1940, graduating from Green Lake High School in 1945, and the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1950. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot during the Korean War and retired from the Navy Reserve as a Lt Commander. He was a member of the Quite Birdmen, an association for pilots, a charter member of the Federated Church of Green Lake, and a member of Willis-Chapel American Legion Post 306 in Green Lake, WI. Wayne lived in Markesan and Stevens Point, WI from 1951 to 1968 and in 1968 he moved to Florida.
Survivors include his first wife, Eugenia Friday Whelihan, and their children, Karin (Tom) Jones of AZ, Rick Krueger of Green Lake, Mark (Ellen) Krueger of Green Lake, Maureen (Dan) Bohleber of New York; grandchildren, Drew (Eileen) Vandervelde of Green Lake, Margaret Margo Jones of VT, Sherri Lynn Krueger, Dustin Krueger, and Jason Krueger all of CO, Kevin Donahue and Margaret (Peggy) Donahue both of NY. Also surviving is his second wife, Marge Nelson Hammersley Krueger of Lake Worth, FL, his step-children, Barbara (Mark) Hammersley Zaleski of CT, Richard (Sarah) Hammersley of Granada, West Indies; step-grandchildren, Carley, Lindsey, Laya and Max; and one sister, Georgia (Jerry) Stellmacher of Fairwater, WI. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Richard and two infant siblings.
A memorial service for Wayne D. Krueger will be held on July 12, 2008, at 11:00 am, at the Federated Church in Green Lake with The Reverend Gerald Schrankler officiating. Visitation for Wayne D. Krueger will be from 10:30 am until the time of the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake, where Military Honors will be conducted at the time of inurnment. Memorials can be given to a Hospice Hope of your choice.
