Wayne Searl

Wayne Owen Searl, age 63, of N8587 Seward Dr, Berlin, formerly of Appleton, died Tuesday afternoon, February 11, 2003, at his home.

He was born March 4, 1939, in Ripon, a son to Owen and Loretta (Liedke) Searl. He was a 1957 graduate of Ripon High School and attended UW-Oshkosh. Wayne served in the U.S. Air Force for 3 years. In 1962 he married Phyllis Wollermann at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon. For 24 years he had been Regional Manager of Badger Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of the American Legion, 1752 Club of Wisconsin, PIA-Big I, and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Appleton. Wayne helped form Appleton’s Pop Warner Football Association. He enjoyed sports, and especially watching his grandchildren play. He was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Berlin; sons, Tom (Sonja) of Appleton, Paul of Oshkosh and Ray of Appleton; daughter, Cindy Gorges (Scott) of Appleton; grandchildren, Jason, Jesse, Nicole, Jake, Corey, Chris, and Paige; brother, Don Searl (Carla); sister, Bonnie Rozek (Frank) of De Pere; father, Owen Searl of Ripon; nieces & nephews; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Searl.

Funeral service for Wayne Owen Searl will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2003, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 3009 N. Meade St., Appleton, WI 54911, with the Rev. Dennis E. Ellisen officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2003, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in the Rosendale Cemetery, Rosendale. Memorial gifts will be given to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Appleton or Hospice Foundation, St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.
