Wayne (Weiner) Dale Sonntag, of Green Lake, age 71, passed on peacefully, Sunday, August 25, 2002.
Wayne was born March 29, 1931 in Waukesha, WI., a son to Eleanore (Quade) Hasselman. He graduated from Fond du Lac High School and entered the service on September 8, 1950. He served in the U.S. Army with the 196th F.A. during the Korean Conflict. He married Joyce Elaine (Lay) on April 18, 1953 and they celebrated 49 years of marriage together. Wayne graduated from Santa Ana College in Santa Ana, CA. and from U.W. Madison with a degree in Geophysics. He was the Logistics Officer for the University of Wisconsin during the first Geophysical Expedition to Antarctica. He was founder and C.E.O. of International Business Cards in Green Lake. Wayne was a past member of the Lions and American Legion.
Wayne is survived by his wife Joyce, mother Eleanore and his five loving children; David (Marilyn), Dale (Teresa), Lynn (Chuck) Mirr, Doug, Donald (Jeanne) and (Mexican son) Paco Jarque Uribe. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Robyn (Brad) Lawler, Lisa, Brian, Mark, Sirrus (great), Justin, Danica, Alysha, Charisma, Toni, Sarah, Nate, Michelle, Abby, Amanda, Jessica, Jason, Kevin, and Grace (great). Wayne will also be missed by many special friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Sonntag.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. all at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. Military Honors will follow the service. Private inurnment will follow at Bluffton Cemetery, Town of Brooklyn, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Green Lake/Brooklyn First Responders or Green Lake/Brooklyn Fire Department.
