Wesley Avery Sherwood, age 89, of 50 Wolverton Ave., Ripon, passed away Wednesday morning, August 18, 2004, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.
He was born December 18, 1914, in Ripon, the son of Ralph M. and Fannie (Latimer) Sherwood at their home on Sherwood Farms where he lived most of his life. He was educated in Ripon Public Schools, and was engaged in farming. Wesley was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in which he had served in many ways.
Survivors include a sister, Rachel Sherwood; 1 sister-in-law, Arleen Sherwood (Sidney deceased); 1 nephew, Ralph M. (Donna) Sherwood; and 3 nieces, Nancy (Ralph) Baker, Sue (Richard) Kohl and Anna Sherwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph M. and Fannie Sherwood; and 2 brothers, Somers and Sidney Sherwood.
A private graveside service will be Friday, August 20, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 27, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Ripon. The Reverend David A. Busker will officiate. Memorials may be given in his name to the Education Committee at Immanuel Church.
