Wilbert Radke, age 94, of Ripon, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Juliet Manor in Berlin.
Wilbert was born on July 27, 1913, in Ripon, the son of Albert and Laura (Dreisner) Radke. A devout Christian, he was baptized and later confirmed at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon, which is currently called Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ. He graduated from Ripon High School and immediately began his life’s work as a farmer. On January 1, 1944, Wilbert married Hannah Jennings, and the couple made their home at the family farm. After his wife’s passing in 1973, Wilbert continued to farm until his retirement in 1975.
Survivors include nephew, Charles (Eva) Fithian of KS; niece, Gale (Dale) Pankratz of Berlin; as well as several great-nieces and nephews, and many good friends. Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hannah; brothers, Leo and Reinhard; and sisters, Emma and Lillie.
Visitation for Wilbert Radke will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ Chapel in Ripon.
Funeral service for Wilbert Radke will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008, at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ with Reverend Mark R. West officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Ripon. Memorials in Wilbert’s name can be given to Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ.
