Wilbur Zamzow, 93, of Wausau, formerly of Ripon, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Colonial Manor Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Wausau.
He was born April 14, 1908, in the Town of Maine, Marathon County, a son to Emil & Matilda (Luepke) Zamzow. He attended Berlin High School, and on November 18, 1933, he married Erna Kenas. Wilbur had farmed and lived on the same farm for 87 years. Mr. Zamzow was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon, and a former director of Crystal Lake-Utica Insurance Company.
He is survived by his wife, Erna Zamzow of Wausau; 1 daughter, Yvonne (Robert) Firary of Rothschild; 1 son, Fred (Joan) Zamzow of Watertown; grandchildren, Mark Firary of Golden Valley, MN, Mary Firary of Milwaukee, James Firary of Woodstock, GA, Ronald (Carrie) Zamzow of Janesville, Michael Zamzow of Somerset, and Timothy (Jan) Zamzow of Byron, MN; and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; and 1 sister, Mabel (Neil) Beier.
A memorial service for Wilbur Zamzow will be Saturday, June 2,
2001, at 11 a.m. at Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon with the Rev. Gerald Schrankler officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. lnurnment will be in Nepeuskun Cemetery, Town of Nepeuskun. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
