Willard “Bill” Dwight Stellmacher, age 95, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014, at Barrett House in Ripon with his family by his side.
Bill was born December 6, 1919, in Ripon, the son of George and Jessie (Satler) Stellmacher. He proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in the 861st Battalion in Asiatic Pacific Theater from October 13, 1941 to October 31, 1945. In 1947, Bill married Dorothy Hahn in Princeton, WI. He was employed with Speed Queen in Ripon. Bill was a member of V.F.W. Schultz-Klemp-Wentland Post #5278, United Steelworkers Local 1327 and Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. He loved watching the Green Bay Packers and Badgers and just football in general. Although his military time was in his earlier years, he still held it close to his heart.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Stellmacher of Ripon, WI; daughter, Gail (Ervin) Voigtschild of Fond du Lac, WI; sisters-in-law, Esther Stellmacher, Elaine Kriegl, Shirley Polus and Marion Hennes; one brother-in-law, Dick Hahn and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, Alton, Arland, Norman, Woodrow, Carleton, Merwin and Floyd and four sisters, Alice Lemiesz, Dorothy Hill, Wilma Kohlhardt and Everdean Zuehls.
Visitation for Bill will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, from 9:30 – 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Bill will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon with Full Military Honors. A memorial is being established in his name.
