William “Bill” C. Bland, age 70, of Green Lake, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at his home.
Bill was born on February 16, 1940, in Rockford, IL, the son of Ethel Berndt. He attended East High School in Rockford, IL. Bill served our country in the United States Navy from 1957 – 1961, and was on the Rockford, IL Police Department for 32 years retiring as a Sergeant. On June 5, 1993, Bill married Victoria Anderson. He was a member of Pb PA in Rockford, American Legion in Green Lake. Bill enjoyed bowling, golf, boating and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki of Green Lake, WI; two daughters, Lori Bland of Rockford, IL and Sue (Jim) Lemke of Rockford; three grandchildren, John, Joe and Jennifer; special cousin, Fred (Phyllis) Hawn of Sun City West, AR; and his dog and cat, Scout and Benni. Bill is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at 1:00 pm at Hattie Sherwood Campground, 451 South Lawson Dr. Green Lake, WI 54941 and another memorial service for William Bland will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010, with a visitation from 5 - 6:00 pm with service starting at 6:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Genoa Rd. Belvidere, IL 61008-9364.
