William Charles Dahlke, age 93, formerly of Pickett, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at Oshkosh Medical/Rehabilitation Center in Oshkosh.
He was born October 10, 1903, in Ripon, a son of the late Charles and Emma Scheer Dahlke. He was educated in rural Ripon and for a time, attended the Agriculture Short Course at UW-Madison. Until his retirement, Mr. Dahlke owned and operated the Dahlke Apple Orchard in Pickett, and he also custom sprayed apple trees. He was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon. On October 28, 1928, he married the former Lillie Augusta Splittgerber and she preceded him in death on April 28, 1962. He later married Hilda Johnson in 1972 and she passed away in 1982. Mr. Dahlke had lived in Pickett all his married life.
Mr. Dahlke is survived by two daughters, LaVern (James) Sturgis of Neenah and Ardes Dahlke of Menasha; one grandson, Paul (Wendy) Sturgis of Wisconsin Rapids; two great-grandchildren, Christine and Adam Sturgis of Wisconsin Rapids; one brother, Walter (Virginia) Dahlke of Ripon; three sisters, Lillian Huth and Ella Dahlke, both of Ripon and Alice (John) Krystofiak of Zephyrhills, FL; one sister-in-law, Ruth Dahlke of Markesan; one step-son, Lyman (Mickey) Johnson of Winneconne; one step-daughter, Vivian (Donald) Walters of Neenah; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives, one grandson, one sister, and two brothers, Lewis and Edward.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 2, 1997, at 11 am at the Chapel of Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon with the Reverend Eric Burnard officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service at the chapel. Burial will be Wednesday at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Pickett, Town of Utica. A memorial has been established in his name for Our Saviours Church.
