William Hayes

William Francis Hayes, 72, of Ripon, died Wednesday, February 23, 1994, at his home.

He was born September 1, 1921, in the Town of New Richmond, WI, the son of Thomas and Mary Endejan Hayes. William proudly served in the US Marine Corp, he married Shirley Swanson September 2, 1950. William graduated from UW River Falls and received his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1954. In 1955, William moved to Ripon and joined Earl Mann in his law practice. He would eventually become associated with other attorneys before establishing his own business. William was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Green Lake. He was a charter member and first president of the Ripon Lions Club. He was also a member of the Ripon Noon Kiwanis Club, the American Legion, Green Lake and Fond du Lac County Bar Association, Wisconsin Bar Association, current Court Commissioner and former Ripon City Attorney.

Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley; six daughters, Cynthia (Richard) Diemer of Ripon, Mary Margaret Hayes and special friend Daniel Hansen of Milwaukee, Melanie (Paul) Sims of Madison, Stacie (Bruce) Woboril of Stevens Point, Sarah Hayes of St. Paul, MN and Elizabeth Hayes of Red Wing, MN. One son, William Francis Hayes Jr. of Appleton, WI; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Lydia and Madeleine Diemer; Molly, Sam and Nicholas Woboril and Connor Sims; three brothers, John T. (Hildegarde) of Greendale, Dr. Terrance (Joyce) of Green Lake and Dr. Francis (Beverly) of Waupaca; two sisters, Rosamond Ploetz of Libertyville, IL and Sheila Baker of Colegate, WI. Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, March 1, 1994, in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake with Reverend John Dowd officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon.

Friends and relatives may call from 5 to 8:00 pm Monday at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. A memorial has been established for Hospice Hope, The American Cancer Society and the Association for Retarded Citizens.
