William Hughes

July 29, 1925 — January 2, 2008

William D. “Doug” Hughes, age 82, of Ripon, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Fountain View Care Center.

Doug was born on July, 29, 1925, in Flemingsburg, KY the son of John M. and Emma Hughes. He graduated from Hughes High School in Cincinnati, OH, and went on to become an Engineer. Doug worked for the Ingersoll Milling Machine Company as well as other companies where he designed both automobile and aircraft engines. On December 14, 1946, Doug married Lorraine Anderson in Cincinnati. He was a Veteran who served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and belonged to the Grand Lodge of Ohio for over 50 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Laura (Tracy) Swayze of Ripon, and one grandson, Benjamin Jay Hughes Swayze of Ripon. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Lorraine “Andy” Hughes on June 25, 2003.

Visitation for William D. Hughes will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again on Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for William D. Hughes will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home with Reverend Laura K. Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in Rosendale Cemetery, Village of Rosendale.
