William Harold Rose, Sr, age 92 of Ripon, died Thursday, November 27, 1997, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.
He was born August 26, 1905, in LaCrosse, a son to Daniel and Mamie (Loomis) Rose, Sr. He was educated in LaCrosse, and on June 10, 1924, he married the former Lena Alice Christ in Waukegan, IL. During his working years, in the 1930s he worked as a fire starter for the Milwaukee Road Railroad in LaCrosse, from 1942-46, he worked for Allis-Chalmers in West Allis on the Atom Bomb-Manhatten Project, from 1947-55, as a welder at Drott Tractor Co. in Milwaukee, and until retiring in 1980, he had been a maintenance engineer at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee. In 1980, he and his wife moved to the Green Lake/Ripon area. He was a member of Modern Wood men of America.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Donna Peppler of Oshkosh and Mavis (Ralph) Winebrenner of Hartford; I son, James (Janet) Rose of Ripon; 14 grandchildren, Scott (Patricia) Peppler, Bruce (Patti) Peppler, Brian (Annette) Peppler, Susan (John) Solomko, Richard (Carol Ann) Rose, William (Dawn) Rose, Karl (Kim) Rose, Martin Russell (Barbara) Rose, Dawnmarie (Scott) Eccieston, John (Sue) DeLuca, Judith (Charles) Gambino, Ralph Andrew Winebrenner; Janica Rose and James F. (Mindy) Rose; 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by 2 sisters, Dorothy Reichgelt and Betty Simpson; brother-in-law, Joseph Wakeen; sister-in-law, Hattie Rose; daughter-in-law, Donna Rose; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mamie Rose, Sr. wife, Lena ,son, William H. Rose, Jr, 5 brothers and 7 sisters.
Funeral service will be Saturday, November 29, 1997, at 12:00 noon at theButzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon with the Rev. James D. Mohr officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Graveside service will be Monday, December 1, 1997, at 10 AM at Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee. A Memorial has been established.
