William Melvin Slager, age 84, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, WI.
William was born February 21, 1929, in Maywood, IL, the son of Melvin and Margaret (Nauta) Slager. He graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and worked as a Mechanical Engineer. William served our country in the United States Army with the 3rd Division, during the Korean War from 1950 1952. On November 22, 1952, William was united in marriage to Beatrice Joseph in Cicero, IL. He was active in Rotary Club; and also a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ripon. William was an avid woodworker; enjoyed fishing; had a passion for reading books with a special interest in the Civil War; and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Slager, Green Lake, WI; son, Michael Slager, Glenview, IL; daughter, Barbara Slager, South Elgin, IL; daughter, Lisa Arnold, Massillon, OH; grandson, William Slager, Glenview, IL; grandson, Adam Arnold, Massillon, OH; and granddaughter, Abigail Arnold, Massillon, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, George Slager.
Visitation for William Slager will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014, from 10:00 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 430 W. Griswold St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Memorial Service for William will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ripon. Reverend Clay R. Salmela will officiate. Memorials may be sent to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ripon.
