William Swenson

William “Bill” Henry Swenson, age 77, of Green Lake, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee surrounded by his family.
Bill was born October 4, 1937, in Mt. Horeb, WI, the son of Kermit and Almira (Kahl) Swenson. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1956. Bill served our country in the United States Army, entering in 1957, he served two and a half years in Germany. He worked as an appliance salesman for Wolff, Kubly and Hirsig in Madison. On August 27, 1960, Bill married Patricia A. Robinson in Dodgeville, WI. He joined Speed Queen Laundry Company in the late 60’s as a Regional Manager in South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Ohio and Ripon. Bill worked for Speed Queen for 15 years and then became a manufacturer’s agent, representing National Rivet and several other companies for 25 more years. In his retirement years, Bill worked part-time for Napa and Bluemke’s Appliance in Ripon.
Bill and Pat drove to Ft. Myers Beach, FL for over 30 years to enjoy their Windward Passage and Indian Creek friends. He enjoyed making Christmas trees out of wild grapevines. This was a hobby that Bill and Pat turned into a profitable arts and crafts business. Bill loved to play tennis, play cards, fish, deer hunt and especially grow vegetables in his garden. He enjoyed making jams for the grandkids from his strawberries and red and black raspberries.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patricia Swenson of Green Lake, WI; two sons, Brian (Becki) Swenson of Hartford, WI and Tim (Connie) Swenson of Watertown, WI; one daughter, Julie (Dan) Heyn of Crystal Lake, IL; nine grandchildren, Brittany, Brad, Brett and Bethany Swenson all of Hartford, WI, Colette, Katrece and Clayton Swenson all of Watertown, WI and Kayla and Nicholas Heyn both of Crystal Lake, IL and one brother, Bob (Lynn) Swenson of Pardeeville, WI. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Almira Swenson and sister, Nancy Ferrell.
Visitation for Bill will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Saturday, December 13, 2014, from 10 – 11:00 am at The Federated Church of Green Lake, 489 Scott St., Green Lake, WI 54941.
Memorial service for Bill will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 11:00 am at The Federated Church of Green Lake in Green Lake. Reverend Karen Gygax Rodriguez will officiate. Memorials may be directed to The Federated Church of Green Lake, P.O. Box 471, Green Lake, WI 54941.
