William J. Bill Widlake, age 56, died unexpectedly on December 31, 2008, as the result of an industrial work accident.
Bill was born on April 7, 1952 to John and Emily (Krentz) of Ripon. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1971 and joined the army, where he was stationed in Frankfurt Germany. He worked as a journeyman electrician in Wisconsin and Texas. In 1984, he married Cindy Sommers, and on New Years Eve 1985, welcomed daughter Bonnie into the world. Besides being an all around good guy, Bill enjoyed going to concerts, Indy car races, watching TV and the Packers play, and spending time with his friends, especially Paul and Ullie Mankini and their sons Jason and Jeffery. Most of all, Bill loved spending time with his family, especially his twin grandsons Sam and Levi, (four and a half years old) a new granddaughter Bella (two months).
Survivors include his parents John and Emily Widlake of Ripon; daughter Bonnie Sommers of Oshkosh; grandchildren Sam, Levi, and Bella; step daughter Katie Sommers of Tomahawk; brother Tom (Tammy) Widlake of Ripon, nephew Clint; nieces Melissa and Heidi. Preceded in death by his grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and nephew Chad Widlake.
A visitation for William Widlake will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2009, from 4:00 pm 6:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home.
A memorial service for William Widlake will be held at 6:00 pm following visitation at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home with Reverend Mark R. West officiating. A memorial has been established in his name.
