William John Wissing, age 83, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 1990, at his home.
He was born July 12, 1906, in Milwaukee, the son of William Edward and Cecelia (Oleskie) Wissing. He married Edna Reith on September 2, 1933. He was a detective with the Milwaukee Police Department and after retirement in 1956 moved to Green Lake where he and his wife owned and operated the former Doghouse Drive-in for five years. He served as Green Lake Park Commissioner for several years and was in charge of Hattie Sherwood Campground.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; daughters, Kathleen (Delmer) Schmid, Ellen (Edward) Formiller, Mary Ann (Gerard) Russell; son, Richard (Ana Maria); twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph; two sisters, Loyola and Mary Agnes; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 6, 1990 from 4:00 until 8:30 p.m. with Prayer Service being held at 8:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again on Wednesday, March 7, 1990 from 10:00 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 1990, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake. The Reverend Leo Joyce will officiate. Interment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake. Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
