Wilma J. Gillen, age 73, formerly of Ripon, WI, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Kindred Hearts of Green Lake.
Wilma was born September 20, 1940, in Fond du Lac, WI, the daughter of Herman and Willemina (Vande Boven Kamp) Van Galen. She graduated from Waupun High School. In 1963, Wilma was united in marriage to David William Gillen. Wilma worked various jobs throughout her life along with being a loving mother and housewife. She worked as a secretary and surgical technician for many years at Ripon Hospital; she was the secretary to Dr. Jones at Berlin Memorial Center; she was an assistant to the school nurse; and also a ward clerk for Park View Care Center presently Fountain View Care Center in Ripon. Wilma was a member and also served at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon.
Survivors include her children: Wanda (Randal) Potratz, Ripon, WI, Jeffrey (Lisa) Gillen, Richfield, WI, and Mark Gillen, McFarland, WI; grandchildren: Christopher, Justin (fiancée Lynn Kotte), Noah, Emily, Erin, Elise Marie, MacKenzie, Elise Rose, and Dadon; brothers: Herman (Joyce) Van Galen, Norman, OK, and Erwin (Lorinda) Van Galen, Waupun, WI; sister: Phyllis (Ken) Kwakkel, Neshkoro, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Gillen; and her parents, Herman and Willemina Van Galen.
Visitation for Wilma J. Gillen will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Wilma J. Gillen will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon. Reverend Bryan Fritsch will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in the City of Ripon. A memorial is being established.
