Wilma Julia Wells, age 99, formerly of Peoria, IL, and Carmel Residence in Oshkosh, WI, died Thursday, September 4, 1997, at the Bethel Home in Oshkosh.
She was born January 23, 1898, in Fairbury, IL, a daughter to Robert Joseph and Lillian (Wilson) Codlin. She was a graduate of Fairbury High School. On May 23, 1920, she married V. Hugh Wells Sr. They made their home in Peoria, IL. Wilma was a Newcomer Hostess and housewife and attended the First Methodist church in Peoria. In recent years she made her home in Oshkosh at Woven Hearts and Carmel Residence. She was a member of the First Methodist church of Oshkosh.
She is survived by her son, V. Hugh Wells, Jr and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline L. Wells of Green Lake; grandson, Victor Wells of Vancouver, B.C., Canada; granddaughter, Polly Jo Malehorn of New Castle, CO; three great-grandsons, Joshua, Michael and Samuel Ken Wells; and two great-granddaughters, Emily Jo and Shelby Jacqueline Malehorn. She was preceded in death by her husband, V.H. Wells, Sr., grandson, Ken Wells, sister, Dorothy Fleming and two brothers, Howard and Lee Codlin.
A memorial service for Wilma J. Wells will be held Wednesday, September 10, 1997, at 2 pm at the Wilton Mortuary/Funeral Home in Peoria, IL with Reverend Dr. John Stanley officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
