Wilton James Tavs, age 73, of Ripon, WI, passed away Saturday, March 17, 1990, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
He was born October 2, 1916, in Alto, a son of William H. and Jennie C. (Bruins) Tavs. On August 25, 1939, he married Angeline Rens in Alto. Mr. Tavs was educated in the Alto area. He had farmed for 40 years in the Brandon area until moving to Ripon in 1984. He was a rural carrier for the Fond du Lac Reporter for the last 2 years. He was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon.
Survivors include his wife, Angeline; three daughters, Charleen (Darold) Strook of Oakfield, Sharon (Keith) Krohn and Wanda (Gerald) Sanders, both of Brandon; one son, William Tavs of Rosendale; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Alieta Stelsel of Fond du Lac and sister-in-law, Zilda Tavs. Wilton was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Lawrence.
Visitation for Wilton will be held on Monday, March 19, 1990, from 6 – 9:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
Funeral service for Wilton will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 1990, at 10:30 am at Bethel Reformed Church. Reverends Randall Knoll and Robert LeCount will officiate. Interment will be in the Brandon Cemetery in the Village of Brandon. A memorial is being established in his name.
